Introduction

The TaxSaver Commuter Ticket Scheme is designed to reduce the cost of public transport for employees. Here’s a concise summary:

  1. Purpose and Benefits:

    • Introduced to encourage workers to use public transport for commuting.
    • Covers bus, rail, and Luas tram services.
    • Employers can save on PRSI payments.
    • Employees benefit from tax, PRSI, and USC savings, saving on travel costs.
  2. Eligibility and Participation:

    • Employers and employees sign a contract to participate.
    • Employers apply for commuter tickets on behalf of employees.

Using Quick Setup to set up Taxsaver Tickets

You can use the Quick Setup facility to set up Taxsaver Tickets

Select the Employee you wish to set up the Taxsaver Ticket in the Employee Screen. At the top of the screen, click the Quick Setup button

Enter Tax Saver Details

In the Quick Setup Dialogue tick 'Taxsaver Ticket'

A section will appear where you can enter the amount of the Tax Saver Ticket per pay period. 

Click 'Save' to save the amount

Entering directly into the deductions grid

If you have used the Quick Setup utility, notice that it has created a new deduction in the Employee Deduction grid.

You could have also entered the details directly into the Deductions grid without using the Quick Setup facility.

Note that:

  • The Type column is Taxsaver Ticket
  • PAYE, PRSI and USC columns are all unticked

If you entered the details directly into the grid, do not forget to click Update Employee to save it.
